Famous Temples to Visit in Delhi During Navratri



Navratri, a nine-day festival, is one of the major festivals of Hindus. Literal meaning of navratri is nine nights and these nine nights are dedicated to worship the goddess Maa Durga. Each day of this nine day festival is dedicated to worship one of the nine forms of Maa Durga. The nine forms of Maa Durga, worshipped on nine days are –  Maa Shailaputri,  Maa Brahmacharini,  Maa  Chandraghanta,  Maa Kushmanda,  Maa Skanda Mata,  Maa  Katyayani, Maa Kalaratri, Maa Mahagauri and  Maa  Siddhidatri.  Chaitra Navratri 2016 begins from April 8, 2016.

In Delhi people celebrate the festival by organizing Mata ki Chauki, Mata ka Jagran and Bhandara. Devotees go to temple to get blessings from Goddess Durga. Temples are filled with devotees. The Some of the famous temples which witness a huge rush of devotees during Navratri are as following, these temples are easily accessible from the city by cabs, local buses, taxis and auto-rickshaws.

Jhandewalan Devi Mandir

This temple,is situated on the Jhandewalan road on the way to Karol Bagh. As the name suggests devotees from far and wide come here to offer flags to get their wishes fulfilled. During navratri temple is decorated with flowers and vibrant lights. 

Chittaranjan Park Kaali Mandir


This temple,is located in the Greater Kailash II at CR Pak. This temple is dedicated for worshipping goddess Kali, Shiva and Radhakrishna.  This temple is cultural center  of Bengali community.

Shri Kalkaji Mandir


This temple is known as abode of goddess Kali. It is located at Ma Anandmayee Marg, situated west
of Connaught Place in New Delhi. During Navratri, Every year a huge no of devotees visit Temple and being blessed.

 Devi Kamakshi Mandir


This temple,is located at Aruna Asaf Ali Marg, Qutab Institutional area.

Yogmaya Mandir


This templeis dedicated to worship Goddess Yogmaya, the sister of Lord Krishna. Temple is located in Mehrauli, New Delhi, close to the Qutb complex. The annual Phoolwalon-ki-sair Festival which is celebrated during Oct-Nov is very famous festival of this temple. 

Gufa Mandir


Temple is situated in preet vihar, New Delhi. Main attraction of this temple is that it resembles the cave of maa vashno devi temple.
