Sela was a local tribal girl who loved Jaswant Singh Rawat, a soldier of the 4th Battalion Garhwal Rifles of Indian Army. In 1962, during Indo-China war Jaswant Singh alone fought against the China single handed and kept them away for 72 hours, that is, for three days. He ran from bunker to bunker, firing from each bunker, created an illusion that many soldiers were presented their. And thus fooled Chinese army for three days. Here comes the role of Sela. Sela, brought him food and water for three days regularly. But they were betrayed by Sela’s father, as he was against their love story. He was captured by Chinese and beheaded . After seeing Jaswant’s dead body sela committed suicide.
This is the story behind Sela Pass, a monument to pay tribute to Sella.
