Must Visit Places in Delhi



 Are you Planning an itinerary to Delhi and wondering what to see? I am here to help you. Delhi is a magnificent city, it comprises of balance of modernism and culture.  Here I am detailing some must visiting places in Delhi. I suggest you to book a cab or hire self-drive car to comfortably explore the capital city, Delhi.

India gate is 42meter tall archway, war memorial to soldiers of India who lost their lives in First World War. India gate is designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, the main architect of New Delhi .

If you have a close look on India Gate, you may be able to read the name of these soldiers inscribed on the walls of this monument. Also since 1971, a flame is continuously burning under the arch of India Gate, called as Amar Jawan Jyoti or the eternal soldier's flame, to give tribute to unknown soldiers of India- Pakistan war. Also Lush green gardens, besides the both side of road to India gate, are very cool and calm picnic spot to visit with family. India Gate is a major tourist attraction in Delhi and your visit to Delhi cannot be completed without visiting this place. 

Red fort

Red fort is generally known as Lal Qila made by Mugal emperor Shah Jahan. In 2007, UNESCO had declared it as World Heritage Site. This prestigious monument has fourteen gates some of them are demolished now.  On every Independence Day i.e 15th August, Red Fort is decorated with tri color garlands and Prime Minister of India hoists the National Flag at lahori Gate and deliver speech.  Every evening a sound and light show describing glorious history of fort is major attraction here.

Qutub Minar

Qutub Minar, 120 meters high, 5 storey tower is a World Heritage Site. Qutub Minar is great piece of art of Tuglak style. Apart from tower Qutub Minar Complex includes Quwwat-us-Islam Mosque, iron pillar, tomb of Iltutmish, Ala’i-Darwaza and the Ala’I Minar. Earlier general public was allowed to climb to top storey but after accident in 1974 ASI has closed the door.

Akshardham

Akshardham Temple is World’s Largest Comprehensive Hindu Temple. It is registered in the Guinness Book of World Records. Temple is famous for its magnificent architecture. Main temple inside Swaminarayan Akshardham complex is comprises of 11 foot high, gold-plated idol of Bhagwan Swaminarayan. Haat, Idols of big elephants, and Sound and light show in the evening is are some other major attractions here.
